How to use StolenMotorJA

What is StolenMotorJA for?

StolenMotorJA is Jamaica’s central online platform for reporting and checking stolen motor vehicles. If your vehicle has been stolen, you can report it to help alert others and increase the chances of recovery. Car buyers can also use the platform to verify if a used vehicle they are interested in has been flagged as stolen.

How do I report a stolen vehicle?

Select "Report Car Stolen" from the menu. You’ll need your vehicle’s chassis number (VIN) and your email address. You can optionally add more details like make, model, year, and color to help others identify the vehicle. You may also choose to display your email address for potential contact.

Can I update the details of my report?

Yes, please contact us directly using the email address you used to report the vehicle. Include the chassis number and any updated details. For security, changes are manually reviewed and updated.

How do I check if a vehicle is stolen?

Go to "Check if Stolen" and enter the vehicle's chassis number (VIN). If it’s in the database, relevant details will appear. If the owner opted to share contact info, you may see their email.

How do I remove my stolen vehicle report?

Go to "Delete Entry" and enter the chassis number along with the email address used to report it. This permanently deletes the record from our database.

Can I request more information about a vehicle?

Due to privacy concerns, we only show the data provided by the reporting user. We do not share contact details unless the user consented. For legal assistance, contact law enforcement.

What if the chassis number is incorrect?

Please double-check your documents. If your VIN is shorter than 17 characters, pad it with zeros (e.g., 12345 becomes 0000000000012345). VINs must be accurate to find matches.

Is this connected to the police?

StolenMotorJA is an independent community platform. While we work with stakeholders and encourage police cooperation, we do not have direct access to JCF records. Always report theft to the police first.

Are there any fees?

Basic reporting and checking are free. We may offer additional services (like verified checks, alerts, or reporting support) in the future for a fee.
