General Information

StolenMotorJA is Jamaica's central database for stolen motor vehicles. Our service allows you to:

  • Check if a vehicle is reported as stolen before purchasing
  • Report your vehicle if it has been stolen
  • Receive notifications if your vehicle is found

The system aims to reduce vehicle theft in Jamaica by making it harder for thieves to sell stolen vehicles.

Yes, StolenMotorJA is completely free to use for all Jamaican citizens and residents. We are supported by government funding and community partnerships to provide this essential public service.

Our database is updated in real-time as reports are submitted and verified. All reports are subject to verification through email confirmation and cross-checking with police records where possible.

However, it's important to note that:

  • Not all stolen vehicles may be reported in our system
  • There may be a short delay between a theft and when it appears in our database
  • Always cross-reference with police records for the most authoritative information

Searching for Vehicles

To search for a vehicle in our database:

  1. Enter the vehicle's chassis number, engine number, or license plate in the search box on our homepage
  2. Click the "Search" button
  3. Review the results to see if the vehicle has been reported as stolen

For the most accurate results, use the chassis number whenever possible.

Chassis Number locations:

  • On the vehicle's registration documents
  • Stamped on a plate in the engine compartment
  • Often visible through the windshield on the driver's side dashboard
  • Sometimes on the door jamb of the driver's door

Engine Number locations:

  • Stamped on the engine block
  • Listed on the vehicle's registration documents

If a vehicle you're checking is listed as stolen in our database:

  1. Do not purchase the vehicle
  2. Contact the local police immediately at 119
  3. If possible, provide the seller's information to the police
  4. Do not confront the seller about the vehicle's status

Purchasing a stolen vehicle, even unknowingly, can lead to legal complications and financial loss.

Yes, you can manage your notification preferences:
